EDTShareTweetShareShareHowie Roseman discusses Eagles’ plan to sign Carson Wentz to an extension, impact of offseason additions, and much moreBill Streicher-USA TODAY SportsHowie Roseman appeared on SportsRadio 94WIP’s Morning Show with Angelo Cataldi on Tuesday morning. The Eagles’ EVP of football operations touched on a number of topics, including some guy named Carson Wentz. Here’s a look at everything he had to say Clayton Thorson Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys , along with some very important thoughts of my own.CARSON WENTZ’S FUTURENothing ground-breaking here. Roseman, Jeffrey Lurie, and Doug Pederson have all publicly stated the plan is to sign Wentz to a long-term contract extension. It’s a matter of “when” and not “if” for this team. The Eagles would probably love to get it done sooner than later. Wentz might be the one who is hesitant since his value isn’t at his highest after two straight injured seasons. I still feel like we could see a deal done before the season starts. SIGNING MALIK JACKSONThe Eagles were trotting out the likes of Haloti Ngata, Bruce Hector, and “T.Y. McGill” next to Fletcher Cox at times last season. Adding Jackson, who can rush the passer Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys 2019 , is a significant upgrade. CHRIS LONG AND MORE DEFENSIVE LINE TALKAdding Jackson alone was a big deal. Getting Jernigan back — assuming he’s healthy — is even better. Is there a team with a better trio of defensive tackles than Cox, Jackson, and Jernigan? It feels like Long isn’t going to be back. Hopefully he is. I’m not optimistic.Ostman is definitely a guy to watch this summer. He drew a ton of praise from the coaching staff last year for his efforts on the practice squad. Ostman filled the old Steven Means role of preparing the offensive line for games each week by going all out in practice. Ostman actually led the NCAA in sacks prior to the Eagles signing him as an undrafted free agent last year. It’d be great if he can prove to be more than a long shot.It sounds like Roseman isn’t done adding at defensive end with that “it’s a position where we’re going to continue to look and continue to strengthen” line. Go get Ezekiel Ansah, Howard.DOES HOWIE HAVE A BIAS?For better or worse, this Eagles regime is very big on familiarity. They’ve talked about their “cohabitation matrix” before. I don’t think the Eagles retained BLG and brought Jackson and Curry back just because Roseman had a role in drafting them. These players weren’t luxury additions; they filled significant needs. DESEAN JACKSON’S RETURNThe Eagles will hope Jackson can be just as productive against other teams as he was against them in recent years. It’ll be great to see this offense have an elite deep threat once again.WHY THE EAGLES DRAFTED ANDRE DILLARDDillard has the potential to be an amazing pick for Philly. If he can be as great as advertised, the Eagles can “set it and forget it” at one of their most important positions for the next decade or so.SIGNING ZACH BROWNBrown has never been on an NFL team that’s finished with a winning record. Take a look:2012: 6-102013: 7-92014: 2-142015: 3-132016: 7-92017: 7-92018: 7-9I’m sure he wouldn’t mind breaking that trend this season.EAGLES AUTISM CHALLENGEThe Eagles raised more than $2.5 million for autism research last year. Colts perspective on Philadelphia’s new d-lineman."The Philadelphia Eagles acquired 24-year-old defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway from the Colts over the weekend by sending the No. 246 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to Indianapolis. In order to get to know more about the Indy’s 2016 fourth-round selection Youth Clayton Thorson Jersey , I thought it’d benefit BGN readers to get a Colts perspective on him. I reached out to Brett Mock (@bamock) of Stampede Blue. Here’s what he had to say about Ridgeway.1) Can you sum up Hassan Ridgeway’s Colts career? I saw there was some excitement about him on Stampede Blue last summer.A failure to live up to expectations. It is fair to note that Ridgeway was drafted during the Ryan Grigson era and originally asked to develop into a 3-4 defensive tackle. The excitement last summer was primarily surrounding the idea that Ridgeway may be better suited for a penetrating nose tackle on passing downs or 3-tech on early downs in a 4-3 alignment. He has never been a great run defender and the old system didn’t lend itself to helping him become better at generating pressure. Unfortunately, the scheme change never had the desired effect. He was a rotational lineman at best and couldn’t get traction with the way the Colts want to do things.2) What are his strengths?Frankly, his size and athleticism should project to doing quite well in the right system. His motor tends to run high, though that doesn’t always result in gaining traction.3) What are his weaknesses? An inability to develop from the time he was drafted. Ridgeway was never able to become a focal point on defense and has never been productive enough to get the fans clamoring for more playing time. 4) Ridgeway is probably going to be a fourth or fifth defensive tackle for the Eagles, assuming he even makes the roster. To what extent is that a suitable role for him?He has experience in the NFL. Veteran depth isn’t horrible and interior defensive line depth tends to not be relied upon to play special teams so that doesn’t hurt you either. I think he would likely be best described as an average depth/rotational lineman with the possibility for development with the right coaching and in the right situation. It is more likely he washes out but certainly not more likely than a 7th round pick would have been.5) Anything to know about him off the field? There has never been any mention of character or off-field concerns during his tenure in Indianapolis. His presence off of the field has been about as impactful as his presence on it, so far as I can tell. I imagine he is a very nice and generous person Clayton Thorson Jersey Color Rush , we just didn’t hear much about it.We wish him the best. We hope he has a long and successful career. He was a part of a very special group last year and it hurts to see any leave under those circumstances.College highlights:Spider graph via Mockdraftable:
